Amina's Drum: "1st Beat of Courage at School," is a beautifully written multicultural children’s book written and illustrated by Author Sam Ajayi aka Wav Lynx. "Follow the Wav" about an inspired multicultural children’s book that follows a young girl's inspiring journey of finding confidence in a new school abroad and making wise decisions.
Through the power of music 🎻 and self-discovery, she overcomes challenges and embraces her unique voice.

Author Samuel Ajayi
Mr. Samuel Ajayi is a native of African decent born in Washington DC, USA whom embodies a richly diverse cultural identity. Sam is an Award- Winning Nominee Writer, illustrator, Producer, Celebrity Dj, Author, and Actor. The character Amina was inspired by his first born daughter “Titi.” As a child, she was fascinated by her father’s drumming ability. Though she tried to follow in his footsteps, perseverance didn’t come so easily at first.. One day Sam decided to find a way that would motivate his daughter and decided for over a 2 years to work on the Book and Project called Amina’s Drum. Sam brings a wide array of global perspectives shaped by lived experience, academic contribution, and innovative collaborations.
As alumni-graduate from University of Maryland, College Park, he has contributed to the schools African American Studies department including the “Nyumburu Cultural Center at the UMD campus. In the early 2020s, Sam and his partner envisioned a new world of access and service, which would lead to machine-driven initiatives being implemented on the campus ground. Becoming among the first to execute such demand on the East Coast. By fully integrating the barber and beauty industry model, it has improved for greater accessibility on Campus.
In the Summer he can be found either DJing under the alias DJ Wav Lynx in the community, Expressing his creativity through drums and percussion, cutting hair for the youth, or he is simply in the Ocean catching a Wave.
Sam not only is a contributor of African - American Studies and an educator, he is also is a Businessman, Father, and a Professional of his Craft. This book stands as both a mirror and a testament, capturing the foreign student experience while revealing a powerful narrative of resilience, choice, and the courage to move forward.
